Lime
The company has an installed capacity of 75,000tpa in Kenya for manufacture of Hydrated and Quicklime which is used in road construction, sugar refining, water treatment, leather tanning, Gold Mining industries etc.
The company has set up a plant in Tanzania which has a capacity of 20,000tpa servicing the Gold Mining, Sugar and road construction industry. A new vertical shaft kiln is being set up which would take the total capacity in Tanga to 60,000 tpa for manufacture of Lime. Both Kenya and Tanzania plants have hydrating units.
ARM Rhino Lime is produced at its factory plants in Kaloleni Cement & Lime Works plant near Mombasa and at Tanga in Tanzania.
ARM has an installed capacity of 25,000 ton per year in Kenya for manufacture of Hydrated and Quicklime. The Tanzania plant has a capacity of 60,000 ton per year for Rhino Quicklime.
Both Quicklime & Hydrated Lime are produced in Kenya at ARM plant at Kaloleni Cement and Lime Works near Mombasa.
Rhino Quicklime
Quicklime also known as Calcium Oxide, it is produced from a chemical grade 96% pure calcium carbonate limestone, calcined in an oil fired regenerative vertical Kiln. Rhino Quicklime contains no water. The resultant Quicklime is a product surpassing the minimum requirements of calcium lime class A, as defined in the Kenya Bureau of Standards Specification, KS 0297: 1982 and the requirements of British Standard BS – 890: 1995, CL 90.
Rhino Quicklime used in the following industries;
- Paper industry for paper bleaching and Pulping paper
- Gold mining

Rhino Hydrated Lime
While Hydrated Lime also known as Calcium Hydroxide, is a dry fluffy white powder. Rhino Hydrated Lime contains water and it is produced by a highly controlled hydration technique in a modern German Plant. The starting raw material is a chemical grade 96% pure calcium carbonate limestone, calcined in an oil regenerative vertical Kiln. The resultant Quicklime is a product surpassing the minimum requirements of calcium lime class A, as defined in the Kenya Bureau of Standards Specification, KS 0297: 1982 and the requirements of British Standard BS – 890: 1995, CL 90 hydrated Lime.
Rhino Hydrated Lime has several uses ranging from industrial to domestic namely;
- Treatment of drinking water.
- Road construction. Used as soil stabilizer.
- In the leather industry
- Sugar industry
- Cattle dip. Lime is mixed with the chemical to lower the ph level hence enhance the strength of the chemical
- Used in the gold mines
- Wall application

Distribution and Sales
- Rhino Lime is distributed to all parts of Kenya through hardware distributors in all major towns namely; Mombasa, Nairobi, Naivasha, Nakuru, Kericho, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Eldoret, Kitale and Nyahururu.
- Rhino Lime is also sold to Uganda going mainly to road contractors as soil stabilizer.
