Paunrana first came to Athi River,as a young man with little money ,but big ideas,and asked the County Council to help him with a plot to establish a factory .In return he promised the Council that he would build one of the biggest factories and employ several hundred people ,now and reality .Athi River is now known all over Africa ,and that makes me feel very proud as Mayor of this Municipality
Paunrana's real achievement is not that he has built a big factory .His real achievement is that all along he has shared his success with his employees and with the community .Athi River Mininig has contributed to social and economic development of this Township .In particular, by helping our schools,churches, hospitals and our Jua Kali artisans.The Mavoko County Council therefore dedicates this road to Mzee Paunrana, as he is fondly known in this Town.
